Harry Stewart, chair of the Welcome Friend Association, announced that the organization will hold a fundraiser featuring internationally known entertainer, Miss Conception, in her show Miss Conception Goes to the Movies.

The unique event is presented by TD and will benefit Rainbow Camp LGBT and A youth.

Miss Conception will perform on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Algoma’s Water Tower Inn and Suites in the Pavilion Ballroom, located at 360 Great Northern Rd. in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the two-hour show kicks off at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $25 each and are available by visiting welcomefriend.ca, The Country Way, 79 Brock Street, or by visiting any TD Bank location in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Female Delusionist will perform a show featuring classic characters of the cinema with surprising twists, beginning with the Good Witch of the North from The Wizard of Oz.

Funds raised during the event will provide LBGT and A youth with the opportunity to attend the Welcome Friend Association’s week-long Rainbow CampT.

Due to its popularity, there will be two one-week sessions in 2017.

The camping experience provides LGBT and A youth with the opportunity to be themselves in a safe learning environment.

Participants engage in traditional camp activities that include nature and environmental pursuits, arts and crafts, aquatic sports and fun around the campfire.

The curriculum explores topics encompassing gender and sexuality, health and community, leadership, and creating safe spaces.

Rainbow Camp was created by Welcome Friend Association to provide LGBT and A youths with a traditional camping experience free from bullying and pressure to fit in.

The camp provides participants with the opportunity to meet other openly queer youth and has been called one of the safest places ever encountered.

The organization will share the unique experience with 70 youths during two five-day camping sessions beginning in 2017.

A camp will be held for ages 12-14 and one for those 15-17.

Participants will come from throughout Canada and across the United States.

Cost for the five-day camp is $275 per person and those who wish to sponsor an LGBT and A camper are welcome.

The Miss Conception Goes to the Movies fundraiser sponsored by TD on Friday, September 23, 2016, features an entertainer of world-class renown and provides comedy fans with an evening of camaraderie and laughter that benefits LGBT and A youth.

Funds will be used to help pay for campers’ registration and travel to and from the camp.
