A local author has written a book aimed at helping first responders who are facing mental health issues.

F*ck You PTSD: 30 Things You Can Try to Feel Better follows a "choose your own adventure" style, empowering readers to take control of their mental health journey.

“I wanted to create something real—something that speaks directly to first responders without the woo-woo, vague advice you often find in self-help books,” said Angela Davey in a news release.

“First responders are action-oriented people, and they need strategies they can actually use to start feeling better.

“From simple techniques like journaling to more intensive approaches like finding purpose, this book recognizes that no two recovery paths are the same and gives readers the autonomy to select what resonates most,” the news release described.

A book launch will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Sault Ste. Marie Library North Branch Room A, starting at 10:30 a.m.

In a groundbreaking, no-nonsense approach to mental health, Angela Davey delivers a powerful new resource for first responders with her book, F*ck You PTSD: 30 Things You Can Try to Feel Better. Unlike traditional self-help books that sugarcoat healing, this guide offers real, actionable strategies without the fluff, geared specifically toward those who have served on the front lines but will be helpful to anyone suffering with their mental health or working to put resilience practices in place to mitigate any suffering.

Written in the style of a "choose your own adventure" book, F*ck You PTSD empowers readers to take control of their mental health journey by exploring 30 practical tools they can tailor to their own unique needs and experiences. From simple techniques like journaling to more intensive approaches like finding purpose, this book recognizes that no two recovery paths are the same and gives readers the autonomy to select what resonates most.

Davey’s work is deeply informed by her experience as a wellness coach and trauma-informed yoga teacher, but also by her role as the spouse of a first responder who has struggled with PTSD. She intimately understands the toll it takes—not just on those in the line of duty, but also on their families. This perspective gives her book an added layer of compassion while maintaining the raw, direct tone needed for action-oriented readers.

“I wanted to create something real—something that speaks directly to first responders without the woo-woo, vague advice you often find in self-help books. First responders are action-oriented people, and they need strategies they can actually use to start feeling better,” said Davey.

F*ck You PTSD speaks directly to the challenges first responders face, from anxiety and hypervigilance to burnout and emotional exhaustion. This book provides straightforward, actionable strategies for immediate relief and long-term healing, empowering readers to take charge of their own recovery process.

Angela invites the public to attend her Book Release on Saturday, November 9th from 10:30 am-12:00 pm at the Sault Ste. Marie Library North Branch Room A. She will be there to discuss why she wrote the book, who it will benefit, and some of the concepts. There will be books available for purchase at $25.00 each. Angela would be happy to sign a copy for you!
