Family Day draws outdoor enthusiasts (18 photos)

Hot chocolate, coffee, nachos and hot dogs were as plentiful as the smiles at the second annual Hilton Family Winter Fun Day

Mother Nature reminder area residents with a light snow fall for much of Family Day that its still winter.

But the snow failed to deter families from having fun at the second annual Hilton Family Winter Fun Day hosted by the Hilton Recreation committee.

An estimated 25 children along with family members gathered at the All Season Surface.

While some chose to use the time to free skate, with or without a hockey stick, about 12 children, ranging in age from four years to 14 participated in a variety of organized outdoor activities. Scores were tallied and prizes awarded at the end of the day.

Three members of the St. Joseph Island Voyageur’s Snowmobile Club were on hand offering a sled ride through out the Village.

With temperatures ranging from -4 to -7 C, hot chocolate, coffee, nachos and hot dogs were plentiful and filling.

The event was possible due to funds raised through out the year, as well food and monetary donations from Hilton Township and Island businesses.
