You've probably heard of the Polar Bear Plunge, but what about the Polar Bare Skate?

Get ready to strip down to your skivvies and glide across the ice at the Downtown Plaza on Saturday, March 1, from 8 to 10 p.m.

"The Polar Bare Skate is more than just skating in your athletic gear and bathing suits, it is a community-driven event supporting those in need," a City of Sault Ste. Marie news release said.

Participants are encouraged to make cash donations or bring gently used winter gear to benefit St. Vincent Place, which provides essential services to those facing homelessness and poverty in this region.

Event Highlights:

  • DJ Bobby Long will be spinning the best beats on the ice from 8 to 10 p.m., keeping everyone dancing and having a blast as they skate.
  • Reubaras Bistro Catering will be on-site, offering hot food and beverages to keep everyone fuelled and warm.
  • Warming Stations and Bonfires will be available, as will the skating change room, to help guests stay cozy during the festivities.

How to Participate:

  • Dress in your best athletic gear, bathing suit, or even your undies. There’s no wrong way to join the fun!
  • Bring your donations of gently used winter gear (coats, gloves, hats, etc.) or make a cash donation to support St. Vincent Place.

Show up at the Downtown Plaza, bring your best energy, and enjoy an unforgettable evening of skating, music, and community spirit.

 Saturday, March 1, 8 – 10 p.m.
