Essar Steel Algoma announces 2012 Scholarship of Excellence Recipients
SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO – Essar Steel Algoma announced today this year’s recipients for the prestigious Scholarship of Excellence Program. Congratulations to local scholars Ryan LaRue (Korah Collegiate), Adam Paci (St. Basil Secondary) and
Hayden Suraci (St. Basil Secondary)!
The Essar Steel Algoma Scholarship of Excellence program was launched in 2010 and since its inception ten scholarships have been awarded to area students. The program strives to give local students an academically and personally rewarding growth opportunity.
Two distinct scholarships are offered under the program.
The Scholarship of Distinction targets university bound students while the Scholarship of Merit is aimed at students who elect the college route. Both are renewable for an identified course of study, greatly offsetting the tuition burden.
First consideration is given to children and grandchildren of current Essar employees or retirees.

The Essar Steel Scholarship of Distinction is a university tuition scholarship valued at $5000.
The scholarship is awarded to up to two students each year and is renewable for the term of their degree, subject to minimum performance requirements.
The Essar Steel Scholarship of Merit is a college tuition scholarship valued at $3000.
The scholarship is awarded to up to two students each year and is renewable for the term of their diploma, subject to minimum performance requirements.
