The Sault Area Hospital Foundation had their 50/50 draw yesterday, worth $104,307.50.

The winner, Erin Black of Toronto, has been supporting the hospital's 50/50 draws since 2020, and she's already got plans for her winnings.

She says she wants to help out some family and friends, travel, and put some of the money toward a down payment on a house.

The proceeds of the draw will go toward critical equipment at the SAH.

The full press release about August's 50/50 draw is included below.

On Aug. 31, Erin Black of Toronto, ON won a $104,307.50 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) August 50/50 draw.

Her lucky number (AU-9348518) was drawn electronically, and she was contacted immediately.

Erin has a connection to Sault Ste. Marie through a relative, and has been supporting SAHF 50/50 since December of 2020. She was thrilled to get the call, and already has a plan for her 6-digit jackpot.

“I'd like to help out some family and friends, and I've always wanted to tour the Canadian Rockies on the Rocky Mountaineer train (the one that has the glass domed cars) as well as take an Arctic cruise,” she relayed, via email. Erin also has some practical plans, sharing, “It's less exciting, but I also plan to save a chunk of the winnings either towards a potential down payment on a home or retirement savings.”

Erin wasn’t the only winner this month, with proceeds from the draw coming back to support Sault Area Hospital – purchasing critical equipment.

“Thanks to the 50/50 draw, new equipment is arriving at Sault Area Hospital all the time,” said Teresa Martone, Executive Director, Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Just this month, we saw a brand new, multi-million dollar MRI unit come online at our hospital – and our lottery purchasers have been a key part of that equipment arriving! We are so grateful for the continued support of our community for these draws. The funds raised every month make outstanding care possible at Sault Area Hospital.”
