******************** Logging accident kills Echo Bay man
Echo Bay, Ont. - A 61-year-old Echo Bay died in hospital yesterday after a logging accident in Kehoe Twp behind Echo Bay.
On Friday, December 30 at about 4:30 p.m. police and ambulance personnel were called to a home on Echo Lake Road after receiving a report of a man seriously injured in a logging accident.
The investigation has indicated that two men were logging firewood in Kehoe Township off of Echo Lake Road in Echo Bay.
One man was pulling logs out of the bush with a skidder when the logs knocked over another tree.
The tree fell on the second man and he fell to the ground.
The skidder operator attempted to administer CPR to the victim and transport him out of the bush.
Ambulance attendants transport the injured man to Sault Area Hospital where the man died of his injuries.
Sixty-one-year-old David John Cuncic of Echo Bay was pronounced dead at Sault Area Hospital.
The two men were cutting firewood for personal use therefore the Ministry of Labour is not involved in this investigation.
