Sault Ste. Marie's Dr. Lou Lukenda is taking legal action to claim US$656,000 he says is owing to him for three buildings he owns in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Lukenda's buildings are used as the town’s civic centre.

He says the money is owed to him for back rent and taxes, insurance and interest charges, and lawyer's fees and court costs.

As SooToday.com reported in July, 2003, the municipality has been occupying the structures even though town officials refused to sign a lease with their Sault landlord.

The latest edition of the Fountain Hill Times reports that Lukenda is upset about the town’s decision to vacate one of his three buildings in July, and with its alleged failure to pay property taxes.

Dr. Lukenda is one of several Saultites attracted to the Phoenix-Scottsdale-Fountain Hills area during the early seventies.
