A dog was killed in a single-vehicle crash yesterday morning in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, but the driver managed to escape with only minor injuries — and an impaired driving charge.
City police say the collision occurred just after 8 a.m. Friday on Oak Street, just east of W. 20th Avenue.
The driver was eastbound on Oak before crossing the center line and crashing into some trees.
Sault Ste. Marie firefighters used a chainsaw to clear away the trees so that Anytime Towing could remove the truck.
A dog in the truck died at the scene. Firefighters use the jaws of life to remove the animal's body from the truck.
The driver of the truck was arrested and faces drunk driving charges.
The road reopened around 9:20 a.m.
