CUPE 1880 and local chapter of March of Dimes Canada reached a tentative agreement Monday night, just hours after employees and supporters staged a demonstration in support of a new collective bargaining agreement.
CUPE national servicing staff representative Laura Delhenty told SooToday that CUPE 1880 represents approximately 70 March of Dimes Canada employees locally.
“The current collective agreement expired March 31, 2017, so they’ve been almost two years without a contract,” said Delhenty.
Parties will look at ratification of the tentative agreement later this week.
“I can’t predict a ratification vote, of course, but certainly the parties don’t see a problem in ratifying the deal,” Delhenty said. “We’ll see what happens later on this week.”
CUPE 1880 also represents employees at Huron Lodge and Community Living Algoma.
