Pierre Poilievre, candidate for leadership of the federal Conservative Party, will make a stop in Sault Ste. Marie on Friday Apr. 22 at Quattro Hotel.

He will be doing a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m. and those hoping to join him are asked to go on his website or Facebook page and RSVP.

The MP for Carleton Riding in the Ottawa area will be in Sudbury and Timmins on Saturday and North Bay on Sunday.

A March 8 informal SooToday poll asking who would be a better leader showed Poilievre with 33 per cent compared to 27.9 per cent for his leadership rival Jean Charest. None of the above tallied 39.51 per cent.

A recent Canadian Press story that appeared in SooToday quoted a Conservative strategist commenting on Polievre’s momentum early in the race.

“Melanie Paradis, who is remaining neutral in the race, says Poilievre's crowds are impressive, comparing them to the support seen around Ontario Premier Doug Ford,” says the story.
