A tentative agreement has been reached between supply teachers with the Association des enseignantes et enseignants franco-ontariens de l'Ontario - and the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord.

On Oct. 25, the bargaining committees agreed on a four-year tentative agreement retroactive to Sept. 1, 2022.

“I'm delighted with this new agreement, which will benefit our board's supply teachers,” said Board Chair Anne-Marie Gélineault in a news release.

“We want our supply teachers to be happy, so that they can continue to provide students with a stimulating learning environment and contribute to the success of all our schools.”

Ratification is expected within the next few weeks.

Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord offers a French-language public education in 15 elementary schools and eight secondary schools in the communities of Markstay, Noëlville, Greater Sudbury, Blind River, Elliot Lake, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Dubreuilville, Marathon, Manitouwadge, Longlac, and Thunder Bay.
