Community Builders Awards: Cole Clouthier celebrated for student, sports and business leadership

This year’s Young Leader Award recipient is described as a shining example for high school students

Cole Clouthier is a White Pines graduate whose reach seems boundless.

Currently the assistant general manager for the Soo Thunderbirds, Cole was heavily involved in student life during his time at White Pines Collegiate & Vocational School. His teachers describe him as a mature, empathetic, ambitious leader with a knack for understanding the needs of his peers and a natural ability to create meaningful connections with others

Whether it was leading school pep rallies, working with student senate, managing high school sports teams or giving speeches and organizing mental health awareness workshops, he was a shining example of quiet leadership during his high school experience.

Where Cole shined in particular was in his sports involvement. During his time managing the White Pines boys’ basketball team, he focused on the success of every player, becoming a dependable, steady support to staff and students alike.

He also assists Cystic Fibrosis Canada's Sault Ste. Marie Chapter with its annual Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History.

One of the causes nearest and dearest to Cole’s heart is youth wellness. In an effort to inspire youth to build their self-confidence and treat others with kindness, he regularly presents Tedx Talks on important topics like bullying and mental health. His talks have inspired many students to reach out for support.

The Young Leader Award is presented to an individual or group under the age of 25 who is actively involved in worthwhile community service and shows a commitment to making the community a better place for others.

Congratulations, Cole!
