Cold enough to freeze a brass monkey

We rather doubt anyone will be sitting on this lonely, windswept, snow-surrounded bench at the Civic Centre until spring.

And it'll be even more unlikely if Environment Canada's prediction of as much as 30 centimetres of overnight snow turns out to be true.

Here's the latest snowsquall warning, issued at 3:21 this afternoon:

Snowsquall warning for Sault Ste Marie - St Joseph Island continued

Snowsqualls for this morning and this afternoon.

This is a warning that snowsqualls are imminent or occurring in these regions.

Monitor weather conditions. Listen for updated statements.

A major winter storm originating form east Texas will enter central Ontario this evening.

The storm will move northeastward out of the region by Thursday evening.

20 to 30 centimetres of total snow accumulation are possible before the system departs.

Meanwhile ahead of the system a west to northwesterly flow off Lake Superior is currently producing snowsqualls.

These snowsqualls should dissipate early this evening as the southwesterly flow subsides.

Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.
