Sault Ste. Marie City Council voted tonight to insure Super Dave Osborne.

And Norval Morrisseau.

And Ken Danby.

And the Group of Seven.

City Councillors agreed to spend up to $10,000 to ensure the collection at the Art Gallery of Algoma, which includes nationally and internationally known artists as well as 600,000 cels from the 1992 Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire animated television series.

The City grant was requested by gallery Director Curtis Collins, who said it will provide for a $1 million insurance policy that will make it easier to attract major collections and exhibitions to the Sault.

The Art Gallery of Algoma's collection is worth at least $5 million to $7 million, but is currently not insured.

The popular waterfront attraction has been recently undergoing renovations.

A re-opening party is planned for Thursday November 12.
