City looks to fill spots on council boards and committees

New panel accepting 10 members to advise on racism and hate

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is accepting  applications from individuals interested in serving on boards and committees. Current vacancies are for a one-year term. Interested candidates can explore information about the different openings at www.saultstemarie.ca/boardscommittees.

Boards and Committees of Council (Members Appointed by city council) 

  • Cultural Vitality Committee – 1 member needed
  • Municipal Heritage Committee – 3 members needed
  • Community Development Award Committee – 2 members needed

New Opportunity:

  • Anti-Hate Advisory Committee – 10 members needed

Seeking 10 individuals to provide recommendations, advice, and information to city council on the needs of diverse, equity-deserving communities in Sault Ste. Marie impacted by racism and hate. Interested applicants are asked to outline volunteer experience, community involvement and to describe lived experience, knowledge, and professional background as it relates to anti-racism and anti-oppression; and how it may support the work of this committee. 

An online application form is available on the city’s website at www.saultstemarie.ca/bardscommittees. Interested applicants are asked to outline relevant experience and expertise. 

Personal information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act and will be held in strict confidence to be used solely for the purpose stated above. 

Applications will be accepted by the City Clerk’s Office until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 15, 2024.
