ROTARY CLUB OF SAULT STE MARIE

Rotary’s Battle of the Sections takes place Saturday, Jan. 12 at the GFL Memorial Gardens when the Soo Greyhounds face off against the Mississauga Steelheads.

This pass-the-cup fundraiser is organized each year through the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie in support of Rotary Youth Projects. The section that donates the most per person will receive a gift sponsored by Final Touch Property Maintenance Services.

“For over twenty years our club has not only had a lot of fun with this event, we have also collected over $100,000 for our local programs,” shared Rod Goodall, Battle of the Sections Co-Chair, “We thank the fans once again for their generosity for dropping whatever they can afford into the Rotary mug this Saturday night.”

The service club has invited six-year-old Kendra to represent Rotary during the game’s opening ceremonies. With support from the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, Kendra’s family was able to purchase a special supportive stroller for Kendra that makes travelling as a family easier.

Founded in 1918, the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie’s mandate to support children with physical disabilities has been the heart behind the hard work of hundreds of Rotarians spanning generations. We invest in the Sault’s youth through Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary Science Fair Algoma, Rotary Sports Awards Dinner, scholarships, local projects such as the Rotary Adventure Playground, and partnerships with Easter Seals Ontario and THRIVE.

It is only because of dedicated Rotarians, tireless volunteers, and our extremely generous community that the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie has had the privilege to give back millions of dollars and touch countless lives. To learn more, click here.
