Algoma University’s Fine Arts Department and Sault College’s School of Media and Design Department are pleased to announce the exhibition of chosen works for the Inner Light Photo Contest.

We invite the Sault Ste. Marie community to join us in celebrating the inspiring photographs being made by artists in our region.

Selected from over 375 entries, a shortlist of 50 photographs will be on view at the Station Mall from March 18 – 20.

Thanks to the generosity of a local donor, the Inner Light Photo Contest is pleased to offer cash prizes to the winning submissions.

• Grand Prize – $500
• Second Prize – $250
• Student Prize – $250
• People’s Choice Award – Large format printing on Algoma University’s Epson 9890 and metal frame with matte from Rose’s Framing ($500) value

The first two prizes are open to all, while the third is open to any student at Sault College, Algoma University, or any secondary school in the Algoma District.

Viewers of the exhibition will vote for the recipient of the People’s Choice Award.

The submissions were shortlisted by a double blind judging panel.

The identities of the shortlisted and winning photographers will be revealed at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at the closing reception, held in front of Sears.

The jury, consisting of Colin Crowell (Sault College), Andrea Pinheiro (Algoma University), and Donna Hopper (Village Media), was very impressed by the incredible quality and quantity of photographs submitted to the contest.
