During his opening remarks today, Folgo DellaVedova described local NDP candidate Celia Ross as intelligent, caring and inclusive.
Campaign Membership Secretary Ray Dawson described her as beautiful and energetic.
When it came her time to speak, Ross jokingly dubbed herself disorganized and bossy.
Ross' campaign officially launched today at her office at 24 Queen Street East as her capable and eager staff members were introduced to the public and the planks of the provincial NDP platform were outlined.
"NDP don't just think short-term," Ross stated. "We think long-term."
She discussed key issues, including the need for reliable and affordable health care, job creation that will grow the local and provincial economy, and making everyday living affordable to residents across the board.

**************************** Celia Ross campaign kick-off
SAULT STE. MARIE - Celia Ross officially launched her campaign this morning with a rousing speech to enthusiastic supporters at her campaign headquarters.
Ross outlined four priorities of the NDP campaign:
Making life more affordable by taking the HST off home heating and other essentials
- Making sure that health care is reliable and affordable by reducing wait times at emergency rooms and ensuring the 900,000 people in Ontario who do not have a family doctor, get one
- Change that gets people working to grow the economy by making sure that those on social assistance, for instance, receive a public transit subsidy when employed
- Setting the right priorities by changing the no-strings attached tax credits corporations currently receive to tax credits tied to the creation of good jobs in our communities
"NDP governments across the country have a proven track record of being prudent financial managers," stated Ross. "NDP governments have a 50 percent success rate of balancing provincial budgets; Conservatives, 40 percent and the Liberals success record stands at 27 percent."
"We in the NDP have the right priorities and the right values. We even have the right colour! Orange is the colour of hope, warmth and happiness," according to Celia. "As Jack so eloquently stated: 'Don't let them tell you it can't be done!'"
