Though Christmas is over the Sault Malayalee Association wants to chase away those January blahs by holding a Jingle Bells Christmas and New Year celebration from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Marconi Multicultural Event Centre at 450 Albert St. W.
“This event promises to be a vibrant gathering offering a unique blend of Christmas and New Year festivities complete with cultural performances, music, dance, and a delightful dinner,” wrote Jinse Sunny, Sault Malayalee Association spokesperson in a release.
The Malayalee community comes from the Indian state of Kerala located in southwestern India.
Over 20 per cent of the state’s population observes Christmas.
“One of the key highlights of the evening will be a live DJ to keep the dance floor buzzing, ensuring a night of energetic fun and celebration. It’s a great opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the season with joy and unity,” Sunny wrote.
The Sault Malayalee Association held a Christmas and New Year celebration at the Marconi in 2022. That event included Santa Claus, music and Christmas carols.
A strong turnout is anticipated for Saturday’s event and seats are limited.
Admission is $25 for teens and adults, $20 for children six to 12 and free for children five and under.
