************************* Snowmobile patrol results

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - (February 25) - The East Algoma OPP covered over 200 kilometres of Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trails over the past weekend.

Seventy-four sleds were checked, and only one caution of a minor val-tag infraction was issued.

Police are pleased to see trail permit compliance is up.

OPP officers were also present at the Ernie Eddy fishing derby at Twin Lakes on St Joseph’s Island.

Congratulations to the organizers, a very good turnout with over 100 fish caught.

Excessive speed, alcohol intoxication, lack of helmet use, and riding on thin ice contributes to the risk of death and hospitalization associated with snowmobile use in Ontario.

Ride smart - ride safe!
