Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.'s second-quarter payment to Sault Ste. Marie is $479,267. The amount covering July 1 to Sept. 30 is for hosting Gateway Casinos, says an OLG news release.
The city has received $847,458 during OLG's fiscal year, which runs April 1 2024 to March 31, 2025.
“Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie serves as a source of good jobs and generate important economic activity in the Sault and the surrounding region,” said Ross Romano, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie. “Proceeds from gaming received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG, in turn, help strengthen local infrastructure and support community programs.”
These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
Since 1994, host communities have received more than $2.1 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
