'Call of the Wild' raises more than $6K for Zonta Club, ARCH Hospice

An evening of music and Robert Service poetry has raised thousands for two worthy causes in the Sault.

ARCH Hospice and members of the Zonta Club of Sault Ste. Marie are expressing their gratitude to Vernon Bailey and John McClenaghan who presented their four-night show of Call of the Wild at the Sault Theatre Workshop in February.

The creative duo brought in $6,050 from ticket sales, which has been donated to Zonta and ARCH. 

"Both of these charities provide a valuable service to the residents of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area," Bailey said in a news release. 

"Both exemplify kindness to all whom they serve. Zonta for the help they give to women in our community such as ovarian cancer research, victims of sexual assault and abuse or education scholarships to young women. ARCH Hospice has touched the lives of all of us, be it to a close family member, friend or neighbour that needed support at the end of life's journey." 

“The show was so amazing. Everyone who attended really enjoyed it. We are so grateful to the people in our community for their continued support,” said Julie Premo, ARCH manager of training and coordination. 

“Vernon Bailey has been generously supporting our club in so many ways over the years, dedicating his time, good humour and talents to many of our fundraising events," said Kathy Rydall, president of the Zonta Club of Sault Ste. Marie Area. "Thank you again, Vernon and John.”
