After what organizers say has been a challenging year for many children in the Sault, The Brickspace - Twin Soo Bricks has announced the return of its kid-oriented holiday initiative, The Brickspace Secret Santa.

Now in its third year, the community-driven project aims to make Christmas extra special for those who have faced adversity throughout the year, organizers said in a news release.

This year, the initiative will select three deserving children to receive personalized Lego minifigures of themselves, a "unique and personal touch" that promises to bring out some smiles.

"2023 has been another challenging year for some children, and we recognize that some have had it rougher than others," said Derek Pearce, founder of The Brickspace - Twin Soo Bricks.

"The Brickspace Secret Santa is a way for us to give back to the community, to offer hope and happiness during the holiday season. We encourage everyone to nominate a child they believe deserves this special gift, or to have their child nominate a friend."

To be eligible for nomination, children must be under 13. (If a child has previously been selected and received a figure, they are not eligible for nomination again, organizers said, in an effort to give the opportunity to as many different children as possible.)

The nomination period for The Brickspace Secret Santa 2023 is from Nov 1 to 30.

The community is encouraged to reach out to those who may know children deserving of this unique Christmas gift.

Nomination forms can be accessed on The Brickspace website.
