Three of four Algoma Public Health board members who were asked Tuesday to resign by the Minister of Health have done so as APH begins its first board meeting since an unfavourable provincial assessment was released yesterday.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins called on Marchy Bruni, a Ward 5 Sault Ste. Marie city councillor, Wawa Mayor Ron Rody and two provincial representatives, Janet Blake and Debby Kirby, to step down after the provincial assessment determined the board had not lived up to its duties.
Bruni, who was board chair, has stepped down, along with Blake, the board’s deputy chair, and Kirby.
Tonight’s board meeting has gone ahead with Lee Mason chosen as chair and Ian Frazier as vice chair.
The board members asked by the minister to resign were those who had previously been appointed before October's municipal election.
