Several popular brands of bread and buns have been recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) after pieces of metal were discovered in the products.

Among the brands included in the recall is Wonder Bread, Country Harvest, D'Italiano, No Name and Great Value. A full list of all 37 recalled bread products and their variations is available on the CFIA website.

Anyone with affected products should not eat the bread. Merchandisers must remove the recalled breads from shelves.

The recall was announced on Nov. 1 for bread items sold in Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Wonderbrands Inc. issued the recall. The company has not commented publicly on the incident.

The CFIA linked the recall to a related notice from last month which saw Sifto brand Hy-Grade Salt being recalled for the presence of metal pieces inside the product.

On Oct. 28, the discount brand Giant Tiger issued a voluntary recall of several Wonderbrands breads over a “potential foreign material in the products.”

Costco issued a similar voluntary recall of Wonderbrands products the following day for certain breads purchased in Ontario between Oct. 24 and Oct. 25.

“This recall is in response to a recall initiated by Compass Minerals, the raw material supplier of salt used in the bread products,” Costco wrote in the recall notice.

Affected products should be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase.
