Algoma Public Health (APH) is advising the public that youth from ages 12 to 17 are now eligible to receive their COVID-19 booster dose after six months (168 days) from their second dose at any COVID-19 vaccine clinic in the region.

Roylene Bowden, manager of immunization at APH, informed SooToday via email that COVID-19 vaccines continue to be available through community clinics, Indigenous-led clinics, pharmacies and select primary care offices.

The health unit says after-school clinics and walk-in clinics are also planned for early March for children aged 5-11 in need of a first or second dose and youth aged 12-17 in need of a first, second or third dose booster.

After-school clinics are open to all children and youth across Algoma.

“Algoma continues to receive a steady supply of COVID-19 vaccine, meaning that we have doses available for anyone ready to roll up their sleeve for a first, second, or booster dose, if eligible,” Bowden said.

A calendar with dates, times and locations of COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Algoma can be found on the APH website.
