A tasty favourite in the city’s downtown core is closing for business.
Big Lake Cabin announced today they would be shutting down their operations effective Aug. 22.
“It has been an incredible journey, in which we have met some truly talented and wonderful people, and made wonderful friends,” the restaurant says. “The decision to close has been a difficult one.”
Famous in the city for their delectable sandwiches and baked goods, Big Lake Cabin has served residents an array of fresh and healthy dishes from locally sourced ingredients for the past three years.
The restaurant has received glowing reviews online from customers and tourists alike, and the Prime Minister even paid a visit to the establishment last summer for a refreshment.
The owners of Big Lake Cabin extended their appreciation to their supporters in a heartfelt message earlier today.
“We would like to thank each and every person and business who has supported us over the past three years,” they added. “We feel so grateful for the community support we have received and proud of the partnerships we have made.”
Big Lake Cabin customers have been reaching out on social media throughout the afternoon to express their feelings with the restaurant’s decision.
“Not only did you provide delicious food and a great atmosphere, but you've also been incredibly generous and supportive, and have given so much back to our community,” one woman said.
“You were a star early in the pandemic, helping to keep our family fed,” another resident added. “Your food is delicious, too.”
