The full moon rising over Queen Elizabeth field during last night's senior football game was almost as spectacular as the spirit exhibited by the hundreds of red-and gold-clad Braves fans filling the stands.

It was the official kick-off for Bawating Collegiate and Vocational School's 45th anniversary reunion and it was a jam-packed success.

The reunion won't actually happen until June 30 to July 2 of next year.

But organizers wanted an early kick-off event to set the tone for the 2006 reunion, said organizer Julie Hazelton.

Yesterday's activities started with a pep rally at 2 p.m., followed by the junior game football game, then a car parade from Bawating over to John Rhodes Memorial Community Centre for the evening senior game.

The students, alumni and their families filled the bleachers on Queen Elizabeth Field at the John Rhodes Memorial Community Centre.

Vehicles filled the parking lot and sides of streets for blocks in every direction.

Red and gold was everywhere.
