The OK Tire Buck-a-Tire campaign returned this year, and Nakehndan: Knowing Your Truth was thrilled to be the recipient of this community initiative. This winter season, for every tire sold in November, $1 was donated to Nakehndan: Knowing Your Truth, helping to raise $1,277 in support of their important work with sexual assault survivors and their families.
Nakehndan: Knowing Your Truth is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping survivors of sexual assault and their families heal together as a unit. The funds raised through the Buck-a-Tire campaign will directly support their programs and services, which aim to empower individuals, foster healing, and provide a safe space for survivors to rebuild their lives.
Karen Bird, president and founder of Nakehndan: Knowing Your Truth, shared her gratitude for the community support.
"We deeply value the connections we have made in the Sault Ste. Marie community and with local businesses, including OK Tire, whose generosity helps us continue our vital work. As a young organization, we rely on the support of our community to make a lasting impact on the lives and well-being of those we serve. Frank Bitonti, manager of OK Tire, expressed his pride in supporting such a meaningful cause, “we are honoured to contribute to Nakehndan: Knowing Your Truth and their important work with sexual assault survivors. The Buck-a-Tire campaign has raised nearly $20,000 since its inception, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive difference it can make in our community.”
Nakehndan: Knowing Your Truth continues to make a difference in the lives of sexual assault survivors and their families, offering critical support services and creating opportunities for healing. “We are proud to be part of this community and appreciate all the support we’ve received,” said Michael Bitonti, manager at OK Tire. “Nakehndan’s work is so important, and we’re grateful to be able to contribute to their efforts.”
