The Sault Ste. Marie Museum is set to host its popular Art Supply Sale and Swap this weekend.
This free, drop-in event offers local artists and crafters an opportunity to buy, sell swap or trade new and gently used art supplies.
“We did it originally in October, I believe, for Culture Days,” said Heather Abrams, education and outreach programming coordinator at the Sault Museum.
“Really, it was because we’ve had a lot of art supplies filled up over COVID and everything, so we’re trying to purge some of it.”
The event serves multiple purposed, according to Abrams.
“It’s a good way for us to get rid of some of the stuff we don’t need and give out to our community at a reasonable price, cheaper than they would find at a store,” she said.
“it’s also a good way to have other people come out and get an opportunity to chat with other artists and discover new sorts of mediums.”
For those interesting in selling or swapping, tables can be reserved by emailing [email protected] or calling the museum at (705) 759-7278.
Abrams estimates they can accommodate about 12 tables. However, she emphasized that people can “just pop in if they want, perhaps to peruse if they don’t want to sell.”
The museum is considering making this a recurring event.
“We’ll see how this goes again. And if it does well, we’ll plan to do it probably again next Culture Days, which is in September and October,” Abrams said.
The Art Supply Sale and Swap will take place at the Sault Museum located at 690 Queen St. E. on Saturday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All are welcome to attend this community event that promotes sustainability and creativity for the local art scene.
