Call centre training pilot program

Mover: Councillor S. Butland
Seconder: Councillor P. Christian

Whereas the City’s two main call centres (Agero and Sutherland) operate continuously without a full staff complement; and

Whereas both unemployment and social assistance number are at high levels,

Now therefore be it resolved that the city’s human resources department and other relevant staff co-ordinate a meeting with representatives from the following: EDC, DSSAB, Sault Community Career Centre, Adult Learning Centre, Agero, Sutherland, Sault College, Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development to discuss potential to initiate a pilot training program (4-6 weeks) for prospective employment candidates for the call centres.

Be it further resolved that a report be tabled for council's consideration as to costing, practicality, most appropriate program operator, funding sources and potential efficacy of the program.
