Appointments for kids 5-11 to receive COVID-19 vaccine can be booked starting Nov. 23

As the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine is approved, appointments for children 5-11 can be booked starting on Nov. 23

Appointments can be made online or by phone for community clinics, or through participating pharmacies.

As of Nov. 22, 82.5 per cent of youth, aged 12-17 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Following Health Canada’s approval of the paediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, children aged five to 11 will be eligible to book their appointment to receive the vaccine beginning Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 in the Algoma district.

Children turning 5 years old by the end of 2021 (born in 2016 or earlier) are eligible to receive a two-dose series of paediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at a recommended interval of eight weeks. Just over 7,500 children in the Algoma district are eligible to receive this vaccine.

As of Nov. 22, 2021, 82.5 per cent of youth aged 12-17 in Algoma have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.3 per cent of youth are fully vaccinated with two doses. Vaccinating children aged 5-11 will help protect children, their friends, and families in the fight against COVID-19.
