Algoma Public Health is reporting one new hospitalization and 76 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, though this number may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.

Since the last report, 45 cases have been resolved, and there are currently 401 active cases in the region, up from 370.

APH completed 346 tests with a positivity rate of 21.9 per cent.

There are currently 16 people in hospital with COVID-19, five of whom were admitted due to COVID-19 related reasons.

Four people are currently in ICU with COVID-19.

Of those eligible, 84.9 per cent of the population has received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
