Algoma Public Health has reported one death and 50 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in today's report, though those numbers may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 42 people have died with COVID-19 in the Algoma Public Health region, and 22 of those deaths have occurred in 2022.
Since the last report, 48 cases have been resolved and the current active case count has increased by two, bringing it to 403.
There are currently 15 people in hospital with COVID-19, three of whom were admitted due to COVID-19 related issues.
Four people are currently in ICU with COVID-19 in the region.
Of those eligible, 84.9 per cent of the population has received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
