APH reports low-risk COVID exposure on Sault-bound flight, 15 new cases in region

Algoma Public Health is reporting a low-risk COVID-19 exposure on a Porter flight that landed in Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday.

The flight is Porter flight PD683 from Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie on Dec. 16 that traveled between the two cities between 9:30 a.m. and 10:55 a.m.

Passengers who sat in rows four through eight and flight crew who served those rows are advised to self-monitor for symptoms for 10 days from potential exposure and seen testing and self-isolate if symptoms develop.

APH is also reporting 15 new COVID cases in Algoma, 14 in the Sault area and one in central and east Algoma.

Of the new cases, the exposure category for nine individuals remains under investigation while three were infected through close contact of a confirmed case and three others have an unknown sources of infection, which means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a confirmed case.

There are currently 242 active cases in Algoma and six hospitalizations as of 4:45 p.m. Sunday.
