APH reporting two new COVID cases, potential exposure site in the Sault

Anyone who was at the potential COVID exposure site is asked to self-monitor for symptoms for 10 days

Algoma Public Health is reporting a pair of new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region as well as a potential exposure site in Sault Ste. Marie.

The health unit is advising of a potential COVID exposure for anyone who ate inside at Uncle Gino's Cafe and Ristorante on Second Line West on Aug. 8 between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

APH is advising anyone affected to self-monitor for 10 days, self-isolate immediately if symptoms develop, and also seek testing if symptoms are present.

The new COVID cases in the Algoma region include one individual in the Sault Ste. Marie area and one from north Algoma.

Both individuals were tested on Aug. 12 and bring the total number of cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 410.

Case No. 409 is under the exposure category of unknown, which means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Case No. 410 was exposed to the virus through close contact with a known confirmed case.

Both individuals are currently self-isolating.

There are currently four active COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region as of last Friday afternoon.
