APH reporting low-risk exposure in Sault, 41 new COVID cases in region (update: added high-risk exposure)

Update
An updated notice from Algoma Public Health has added a high-risk exposure on an Air Canada flight.

The flight, Air Canada flight 8201, departed from Toronto's Pearson International Airport at 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 14 and landed in Sault Ste. Marie at 5:30 p.m. the same day.

Passengers who sat in rows 10 to 14 and flight crew who served those rows are advises to take the following actions:

  • Regardless of vaccination status, get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible. 
  • If you are vaccinated, self-monitor for signs and symptoms.
  • If you are not vaccinated, self-isolate immediately until Nov. 21, 2021

APH has also updated the active case count in Algoma.

As of 9:10 p.m. Saturday night, there are 271 active cases in the region and 18 hospitalizations.

Algoma Public Health is reporting a low-risk COVID-19 exposure in Sault Ste. Marie.

The exposure was at the John Rhodes Community Centre Pool on Nov. 17 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Anyone who was at the facility at the time is asked to self-monitor for COVID-19 signs and symptoms for 10 days from potential exposure and slef-isolate and seek testing if symptoms develop.

APH is also reporting 41 new COVID cases in the region, 39 in the Sault area and two in central and east Algoma.

Of the new cases, five are under the exposure category of "under investigation."

APH is also reporting their current isolation status as "under investigation."

Of the remaining cases, 24 were infected through close contact with a confirmed case while the exposure category of the remaining 11 is unknown, meaning they did not have recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

The remaining 35 individuals are currently self-isolating.

The number of active cases in the region has not been updated since Friday's report. At that time, the region had 230 active cases and 16 hospitalizations.
