APH confirms 7 new COVID cases, all in Sault area

Algoma Public Health has confirmed seven new COVID-19 cases, all in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The new cases bring the number of active cases in the region to 42.

There is also one hospitalization in the region.

Case 519, tested on Oct. 26, was exposed to COVID through close contact with a known confirmed case in the area.

Case 520, also tested on Oct. 26, falls under the exposure category of unknown, which means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Cases 521 to 524, all tested on Oct. 28, were infected through close contact as well, while case 525, also tested on Oct. 28, falls under the exposure category of unknown.

All seven individuals are currently self-isolating.

Regions in Algoma that have reported COVID cases in the past 14 days include the Sault Ste. Marie area and north Algoma.
