An epic (and exhausting) journey (12 photos)

“We wanted to create an epic charity event that everyone could participate in,” sighed a very tired and sweaty Simon Trevarthen after he biked 144 kms from Sault Ste. Marie to Blind River this past Thursday.

Trevarthen is the organizer of T2T Thunder Bay to Toronto: 1400 kms in 10 days all in support of the annual fall 2012 Ontario Public Service United Way campaign.

Each rider in the T2T Team has their individual fundraising page with a goal of raising $100,000 collectively.

“We also wanted to make this as accessible as possible, we are not athletes. But we wanted to promote healthy living and inspire others to add more exercise and recreational sports and activities to their life,” added Trevarthen.

“Besides the importance of fundraising for the United Way and its programs, it’s important to know that each of the Public Service / Service Ontario Riders are paying all expenses out of pocket and doing this on their own time, vacation time that is,” continued Trevarthen.

The riders, well they’re from all over Ontario.

Public servants came from Kingston, Sudbury, Peterborough, Garson, Thunder Bay and Toronto to participate in this unique and exhausting fundraiser.
