Algoma University is proud to mark Giving Tuesday tomorrow by joining the global movement of generosity and launching a transformative year-long campaign supporting student success.
This initiative will build on the spirit of Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to fostering community impact through charitable giving, a release said.
The campaign also builds on Algoma University’s commitment to student success by supporting initiatives under the Student Support Fund. The fund will empower the Algoma University Students’ Union (AUSU) to provide essential resources, including:
-
The Food Pantry: Addressing food security for students
-
The Equity and Pride Centre: Fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
-
The AUSU Emergency Fund: The AUSU Emergency Fund is a supplementary resource designed to provide immediate financial assistance to Algoma University students facing unexpected or extraordinary circumstances.
“We warmly invite everyone to celebrate Giving Tuesday by contributing to the Student Support Fund,” said Colin Wilson, director of strategic advancement at Algoma University.
“Through your generosity, you not only empower AUSU to provide vital resources that enable our students to thrive academically and personally, but you also leave a lasting impact on their lives and futures. We are deeply grateful to all who choose to give, helping to foster a community of care and support for our students.”
Last year, the generosity of the Algoma University community raised over $132,000 for the AUSU Food Pantry, which provided vital, nutritious food to over 200 students each month. This incredible milestone reflects the University’s commitment to uplifting students and ensuring their basic needs are met. See the impact of your gifts here.
