The Algoma University Students’ Union (AUSU) is hosting a provincial election debate for local candidates on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

AUSU says it is working in collaboration with the Sault Downtown Association to bring the candidates to speak to the community and students on campus.

As the provincial election fast approaches, the students union says it aims to "provide a space for our community members and students to make an informed decision this election".

The event will allow students from Algoma and the rest of the Sault community to ask questions of local candidates, organizers said in a news release.

AUSU said it will begin the debate by asking the candidates a set number of questions before opening the meeting to questions from the floor.

If you would like your question to be asked by the meeting's host, you are welcome to send it to [email protected].

The event is open to the media. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the event running from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Speakeasy at Algoma University, 1520 Queen St. E.

The Ontario provincial election takes place Thursday, Feb. 27, with advance voting already underway.
