Algoma University is expanding its graduate studies portfolio by introducing three new master’s programs in Sault Ste. Marie and Brampton.

Launching in fall 2025, the Master of Global Business and Economy, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Computer Science will provide students with advanced, industry-aligned expertise in global business, data analytics, and computing, a news release said.

The Master of Global Business and Economy will be the first business graduate program offered in one of Canada’s fastest-growing and most diverse urban centres, Brampton, reinforcing Algoma University’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible education that aligns with the evolving needs of students, Brampton’s economy, and Northern Ontario communities.

These unique program offerings will help meet the rising demand for skilled professionals in finance, policy analysis, consulting, international business, data analytics, market research, software development, IT, and computing research—supporting industry readiness and regional economic growth across the province.

“These master’s programs are designed to integrate experiential learning, research, and career readiness, reflecting Algoma University’s commitment to academic excellence and meaningful community impact,” said Dr. István Imre, associate vice-president, academic and continuing education, in the release.

“By strategically expanding our offerings in high-demand fields, we are increasing access to graduate education while meeting industry needs locally, nationally, and internationally.

“This growth enhances the post-secondary experience for our students, equipping them with specialized education that aligns with industry demands, fosters innovation in key economic sectors, and empowers them to build meaningful careers with lasting impact,” Imre said.

The Master of Global Business and Economy is a 24-month program that offers specialized pathways in global economic policy and global business management, equipping students with the skills to navigate complex international markets.

The Master of Science in Business Analytics is a flexible 16-month program designed to develop expertise in data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and business intelligence, preparing graduates to drive data-driven decision-making.

The Master of Science in Computer Science (MScCS) is a two-year, research-intensive program with a strong focus on AI, cybersecurity, and software engineering, fostering innovation in cutting-edge technological fields. Graduates of these programs will be well-prepared for leadership roles and impactful careers in their respective industries.

“These programs are designed to offer students flexible learning opportunities, hands-on experience, and direct engagement with cutting-edge research and industry collaborations,” said Dr. Donna Rogers, vice-president, academic and research.

“By fostering strong industry partnerships and embedding experiential learning throughout, we empower students with the skills, knowledge, and real-world experience needed to thrive in their chosen fields.”
