Algoma Public Health reports 16 hospitalizations, down from 17 yesterday and 44 new cases of COVID-19, though that number may be underestimated due to limits on who can be tested.

There are currently 583 active cases of COVID-19 in the region, down from 592 in the last report.

APH is reporting that 53 cases have been resolved.

APH completed 461 tests since the last report, with a positivity rate of 9.5 per cent.

Of the eligible population, 84 per cent have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
