'A Thousand Voices at the Cross' returns this weekend

Free event Saturday night is open to all backgrounds and denominations

An evening of worship and community celebration is coming to the "Cross on the Hill" this weekend.

A free event, 'A Thousand Voices at the Cross' returns Aug. 24 at at the top of St. George's Avenue, behind St. Basil elementary school.

The event "brings together individuals and families for a powerful evening of faith and togetherness, as we collectively honour the love and grace of Jesus Christ," a news release says. "Experience an atmosphere of unity as a diverse lineup of local musicians and inspiring speakers lead the gathering in heartfelt worship and share uplifting prayer and messages of hope and faith."

The grounds will open at 6 p.m. with the event beginning promptly at 7 p.m. and running for 90 minutes.

With the event being outdoors, organizers are encouraging attendees to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

A designated prayer area will be available for attendees to connect with trained prayer partners.

The event is open to people from all backgrounds and denominations with the intent of serving as "a testament to the power of unity."
