A peek inside the bat caves

Okay, a lot of you chuckled when an all-male (and therefore geographically challenged) SooToday.com expedition failed earlier this week to find the elusive Desbarats Bat Caves.

From the photos we took of the area, SooToday.com readers concluded we were virtually on top of them, and then right beside the cave entrance.

"Hahah - you guys were so close," one reader wrote. "You have the picture of the rock-climbing chains. That is almost right there. If you look off the top of the rock towards the lake and go left about 200 feet, you will be standing on top. So, so close."

"Having been to the bat caves hundreds of times I would have to say that Tyler was right on top of them," wrote another SooToday.com regular. "The second picture looks like he is standing right above the entrance to the caves."

A third reader was good enough to post the GPS co-ordinates of the bat caves yesterday in SooToday.com's News Response forum.

At least we hope those are the bat cave co-ordinates.

Given our proven geographical ineptitude, we wouldn't know whether they might lead you instead to the Johnson Township International Airport or the Echo Bay Ritz-Carlton or maybe to the secret war room where Frank Manzo plots political strategy with Brenda the Bingo Lady.

And don't ask us how to find the News Response archives.

If you can't navigate your way there unassisted, we sure don't want to be responsible for you galavanting around the bush near Desbarats Lake.

Meanwhile, a fourth reader was good enough to send us some actual photos from the infamous Desbarats bat caves.

Enjoy!
