50/50 winner's vacation about to go from great to epic

One lucky ticket-holder's upcoming vacation is about to go from great to epic after they won the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) 50/50 jackpot.

Sault Ste. Marie's Gus Muto got a call on Aug. 30 informing him of his $55,705 win.

“This is the best news we’ve ever had!” Muto said in a news release issued by the SAHF.

On Aug. 30, 2024, Gaspare (Gus) Muto of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. won a $55,705 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) August 50/50 draw. Gus’ lucky number (A-5615994) was drawn electronically, and he was called immediately.

Gus and his wife Colleen are long time supporters of the SAHF 50/50. When they got the call, they knew exactly what was coming next, “This is the best news we’ve ever had!” Gus shared. This win came at a great time as they are preparing for an upcoming trip.

Gus wasn’t the only winner this month – August’s Early Bird, Kartik Miglani of Goulais River, Ont., bought his ticket on a whim and was the lucky winner of $10,000 on Aug. 15, 2024 with ticket A-8115066.

“It’s great to see both long time and new players win this month,” said Teresa Martone, executive director for Sault Area Hospital Foundation. “Thank you to our loyal and new players for supporting us and our community! We are all winners when we play for our local hospital.”
