One of the world’s most prestigious awards was presented on September 12, 2012 at the Ottawa Convention Centre to 130 award winners from across Canada.

Sault Ste. Marie was well represented by Jennifer McKee, Megan Sherwood, Allister Smith, Alexander Steele, and Vivienne Steele.

These amazing five graduates from Korah Collegiate and Vocational School did their mentors Jannick Harvey and Patricia Merelaid proud by receiving the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award by His Royal Highness Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, KG, GCVO, SOM, ADC.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award was created 50 years ago by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.

The award program includes community service, skills development, physical fitness and outdoor expeditions, which builds personal commitment to social responsibility, leadership, self-discipline, teamwork and achievement.

Great Job!
