The owners of Elite Device Care are no strangers to the industry.
Before they opened the shop in late October, Tawnie Bell and Chris Harris worked together while learning how to fix electronics.
Located at 798 Queen St. E. Unit 2, Elite Device Care specializes in repairing cell phones, laptops, gaming consoles, batteries, charging ports, and more.
"Every day is different," Bell said.
"I like hearing the stories of how people broke their phones. Whether they run it over with a truck, if it fell off an ATV, if they retrieved it from the bottom of a pond when they were ice fishing . . . it's insane the amount of things people do to their phones," she said.
Harris said his favourite part of the job is figuring out the electronics, and "seeing what makes them tick."
Often they are able to repair a device so that it will function again, and sometimes they can even make it better than before the problems started.
"Rather than buying new you can definitely refurbish your broken phone," Bell added.
In addition to repairing electronics, Elite Device Care offers a limited 3D printing service.
Starting in the new year they'd like to expand their services to include seminars for Sault Ste. Marie's aging population, where they would train seniors on how to use technology and the internet.
They are holding a grand opening giveaway until Nov. 29 as part of Black Friday.
