THURSDAY, MAY 5 - Bill Priddle is live at Tempo at 6 p.m.

FRIDAY, MAY 6 - Algoma Festival Choir members are looking forward to their first full performance as a group since the start of the pandemic. The choir will be presenting a 60-minute performance entitled We Rise Again - a collection of songs welcoming spring as well as marking its return to live performances after two years of COVID lockdowns and restrictions. The event is at 7:30 p.m. at The Machine Shop.

FRIDAY, MAY 6 - Sault College's 2022 graphic design graduating class is hosting its Graduate Exhibit to showcase their work. Local businesses, design agencies and the general public are invited to meet these graduates and see what they have to offer. The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sault College campus.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - Canada Post employees will be holding a citywide food drive this Saturday in support of area food banks, soup kitchens, and shelters. Residents are asked to leave donations in a bag by their mailbox before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pink flyers entitled ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ are being mailed out this week and should be attached to the donation bag.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - Algoma Rod and Gun Club Gun Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rod and Gun Club located at 226 Connor Rd.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 and SUNDAY, MAY 8 - Sault Ste. Marie’s Stitches from the Heart Quilt Guild is hosting a very special Quilt Show during the Mother’s Day Weekend to mark its 30th Anniversary. The Quilt Show will be hosted on Saturday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tarentorus Sports Club at 56 Avery Rd. in just north of Third Line.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - The Sault Ste. Marie Museum is holding gardening workshops at 690 Queen St. E. (the museum). Tickets available online are $40 for all four sessions, or drop in rate available for $12 a session. The time is 1 – 2:30 p.m. and the first session is Saturday. That day’s topic will be: What and where to plant, and what you'll need.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - To learn more about being prepared in an emergency, visit the Emergency Preparedness Showcase at the Mill Market from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. This family friendly event is a great opportunity to meet with local emergency response teams, view demonstrations of emergency equipment and be entered into a draw to win a 72-hour emergency kits.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - Strong Minds Run for Change is returning to the waterfront for the first time in two years. The event, which raises awareness and funds for mental health issues and community programming for local youth, has been virtual since 2020. The 5k run starts at 9 a.m. with registrations available now and at the event. Participants can register ahead of time here or here.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 and MONDAY, May 9 - Vinta, a multi-instrumental quartet of phenomenal musicianship, will perform at the Old Town Hall, Richards Landing on Saturday, May 7, at 7:30pm and at Pier Seventeen in Blind River, on Monday, May 9, also at 7:30pm. Vinta is Nathan Smith (fiddle, guitar, vocals), Emilyn Stam (piano, fiddle, viola), John David Williams (clarinet, accordion), and Robert Alan Mackie (acoustic bass, fiddle), four brilliant performers and close friends at the cutting edge of European traditional music in Canada, including music from France, Quebec, and Scandinavia, as well as their own song and tune compositions.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - Bruce Mines Spring Sip and Paint at the Legion (9248 Highway 17, Bruce Mines.) Join artistic coach Stacey Cooke for a fun night of painting. Mingle with friends and neighbours, have a glass of wine, a few hors d’oeuvres and create a beautiful masterpiece! Only 40 tickets are available.

SATURDAY, MAY 7 - Fort Creek live at Soo Blaster from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

TUESDAY, MAY 10 - Mustang Sally at Korah Collegiate at 7 p.m.

THURSDAY MAY 12 - Grab your painting clothes and some friends and join an evening of creativity, wine, and good company at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum! Paint Night at the Museum theme will coincide with Mother’s Day. Paint Night at the Museum Fundraiser will take place on the evening of Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.). The event will be held at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum (690 Queen St. E.) in the main floor Durham gallery. Tickets are $50 and will include your paint, canvas, painting instruction, and one glass of wine from Broers Jansen.

THURSDAY MAY 12 - At The Sault Community Theatre Centre at 7 p.m.. Come spend an evening with multi-Platinum, 7 time JUNO Award winning artist Colin James and his Blues Trio on a selection of Ontario dates. Enjoy a collection of self-penned works and a vast selection of blues covers, all from a 30 year repertoire.

FRIDAY, MAY 13 - What the world needs now is a little more White Cowbell Oklahoma. Described as KISS meets The Allman Brothers meets Frank Zappa meets The Tubes, this stage show of debauchery is described as an absolute killer. Show time at Soo Blaster is 9:30 p.m. to midnight.

SATURDAY, MAY 14 - Sault Ste. Marie Festival of Beer at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre from 1 to 7 p.m. Get your tickets online here

SATURDAY, MAY 14 - BYOBaby Kids Concert at Precious Blood Cathedral at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a child-friendly concert featuring a variety of music, Q&A session with our musicians, and great opportunities for kids to channel their inner artist. Admission is by donation, no minimum, donate what you can. Be sure to enter through Precious Blood's glass doors, accessed at the rear of the building.
